On Friday 4 July from 10:30 - 12:30, techUK is pleased to be hosting the DSIT/GDS Cloud & Platforms team for a pre-procurement market engagement event.
The Cloud & Platforms team will be initiating a FinOps health check for public sector, in support of a wider cross-government cost efficiency drive. This project aims to identify cloud cost optimisation and FinOps best practice that could deliver between 10% and 30% savings on a total cloud bill of £1bn per annum. To do this they need to engage a third party supplier to work with them and up to 20 public sector organisations.
This market engagement event will give potential suppliers an opportunity to shape the work; the methodology, the procurement routes and contracting models. DSIT's initial thinking includes alignment with the FinOps Foundation approaches, and they are keen to explore outcome based models.

Heather is Head of Central Government Programme at techUK, working to represent the supplier community of tech products and services to Central Government.
Prior to joining techUK in April 2022, Heather worked in the Economic Policy and Small States Section at the Commonwealth Secretariat. She led the organisation’s FinTech programme and worked to create an enabling environment for developing countries to take advantage of the socio-economic benefits of FinTech.
Before moving to the UK, Heather worked at the Office of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas and the Central Bank of The Bahamas.
Heather holds a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP, a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from LSE, and a BA in Economics and Sociology from Macalester College.
