DSIT/techUK workshop I Government's proposed Cyber Security of AI Code of Practice
10am – 11.30am29 July 2024
Online
Event was moved from 22 July.
On Monday 29 July (10.00-11.30), techUK is delighted to be hosting a workshop with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) on their proposed voluntary Code of Practice on the Cyber Security of Artificial Intelligence.
On 15 May, DSIT launched a Call for Views on the Cyber Security of AI. This asks stakeholders to give their views on the design and implementation of the proposed code of practice which aims to provide practical support to developers on how to implement a secure-by-design approach as part of their AI design and development process. Based on the National Cyber Security Centre’s Guidelines for Secure AI Systems Development, the Code sets baseline security requirements for all AI technologies and distinguishes actions that need to be taken by different stakeholders across the AI supply chain. Subject to the feedback received via the call for views, government intends to submit an updated voluntary Code of Practice to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in September 2024 to help inform the development of this global standard on baseline cyber security for AI systems and models.
This workshop is an opportunity for members to provide DSIT with your feedback on this proposed policy. techUK's cyber team will also use your feedback to help to inform our response to the Call for Views. We encourage anyone with an interest in the cyber security of AI attend this workshop, including developers of AI and system operators.
*Please note that DSIT are awaiting new ministers steer on the continuation of the consultations, should this have an impact we will update members accordingly.

The Cyber Security Programme provides a channel for our industry to engage with commercial and government partners to support growth in this vital sector, which underpins and enables all organisations. The programme brings together industry and government to overcome the joint challenges the sector faces and to pursue key opportunities to ensure the UK remains a leading cyber nation, including on issues such as the developing threat, bridging the skills gap and secure-by-design.
Our new group will keep techUK members updated on the latest news and views from across the Cyber security landscape. The group will also spotlight events and engagement opportunities for members to get involved in.
