Prof. Robert Stewart appointed Chair of UK SPF Cluster 2

The UK Spectrum Policy Forum (SPF) has named Professor Bob Stewart as the new Cluster 2 Chair, tasked with advancing initiatives related long-term spectrum strategy, including 6G

The UK Spectrum Policy Forum (SPF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Robert Stewart as the new Cluster 2 Chair.

In this role, Professor Stewart will lead discussions and initiatives related to long-term spectrum strategy and innovation, replacing Professor Stephen Temple CBE who has chaired Cluster 2 for several years.

The Cluster’s remit is to bring together really long-term thinking about the exploitation of radio spectrum. As the new Chair, Prof. Stewart will work closely with government, Ofcom, industry stakeholders and academia to advance key initiatives related to long-term spectrum strategy (2030 onwards), 6G spectrum policy issues and UK SPF links to UK university wireless research.

I am honoured to take the role of Chair for Cluster 2 of the UK SPF. With a strong focus on innovation and forward-thinking, we aim to support the long-term policy priorities of DSIT and Ofcom and to facilitate collaboration with university and industry research initiatives

Prof. Robert Stewart

We are thrilled to have Professor Stewart as the new Cluster 2 Chair. With his deep expertise and leadership in wireless technology, he is the ideal candidate to lead discussions on 6G policy issues and spectrum sharing and to drive progress in these critical areas. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Professor Stephen Temple CBE for his tireless efforts in advancing the work of Cluster 2. His leadership and contributions have been instrumental in developing an innovative spectrum sharing approach for the 5G pioneer band at 26 GHz, and laying the foundations for the Forum’s 6G work.
