Event round-up: Local Digital Index 2023 - A Scottish perspective
In this session we explored the results and findings from our most recent version of the Local Digital Index report and what this means for Scotland.
During the fireside chats we looked at whether or not we have the right approach when it comes to skills and talent to support businesses in Scotland, and how we are tackling this. We discussed how we can ensure innovation thrives in Scottish businesses and supports Scotland’s economy, more specifically how data drive innovation is being used and how can companies benefits from tech such as 5G to power innovation.

It was great to discuss how we can support the growth of Scotland's tech ecosystem, understanding its specific challenges and opportunities. Our Local Digital Index report shows that Scotland is placed fifth in the overall ranking and it shows strengths such as the skills pipeline, with the number studying computing, tech and engineering being the highest per 1k of students in the UK and over 264k digital occupations. We also see that the cumulative growth in tech companies in Scotland had increased by 82% in 10 years and that the impact of digital adds nearly £2k GVA per person to the economy, so we are excited to see what the future will bring.
