ADS' Team Tempest Economic Benefit webinar on 25 May will bring together partners in the Tempest programme, SMEs and academia.

The event will mark publication of a report by PwC, commissioned by Team Tempest partners, BAE Systems, MBDA, Leonardo UK and Rolls Royce, that sets out the expected economic impact of the Tempest programme in the UK from 2021 - 2050. This time period includes the development, production and entry into service phases of the programme as well as the early stages of operation.

On Tuesday 25 May the full report will be published, assessing the national and regional economic contribution measured in terms of GVA and employment of the Tempest programme in its own right, as well as wider Combat Air activities. The report will also illustrate the additional, wider contributions of the Tempest programme on UK economy through a set of case studies, focusing on skills development, R&D skill over effects and regional development.

The report will show how:

  • The Tempest programme is expected to deliver significant benefits to the UK over the full lifetime of the programme, benefiting the whole Union, including Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is well placed to support the UK Government’s levelling up agenda
  • The programme will support a vibrant UK supply chain, enabling and encouraging innovation, driving investment in people, early careers, research, technology and infrastructure; supporting the economy and long term prosperity of our nation
  • The programme will help to create and maintain highly skilled employment and training opportunities to preserve important national skills whilst driving science and technology capabilities
  • Tempest is critical to sustaining the UK’s operation advantage, freedom of action and subsequent international influence.

With support from ADS we will be holding an open webinar for industry and media to hear from Tempest on the key highlights from the report, followed by a panel discussion with SMEs and Academia that are benefitting from the Tempest programme.
