UK SPF welcomes three new Steering Board members

The UK Spectrum Policy Forum (SPF) has added Nokia, Samsung and Shure as Steering Board members.

The function of the Steering Board is to ensure that the work of the Forum is properly framed, work items expedited in the correct manner and suitably resourced, and monitor progress on the delivery of the agreed work packages.

These additions bring UK SPF’s total Steering Board membership to fifteen, with Dr. Abhaya Sumanasena, Real Wireless, serving as Steering Board Chair.

The Steering Board is composed primarily of volunteer sponsoring companies drawn from across the range of spectrum users, as well as senior Government and Ofcom representatives.

UK SPF Steering Board members are: DCMS, MoD, Ofcom, BT, Digital UK, Huawei, Nokia, OneWeb, Plum Consulting, Qualcomm, Real Wireless, Samsung, Shure, Virgin Media O2, Vodafone.

The industrial sponsors also provide funding for the operation of the Forum to:

  • identify where expert advice is needed to inform priority issues then commission, fund and manage this end-to-end
  • maintain a strategy on behalf of the wider Spectrum Policy Forum, and account for what is being achieved
  • develop and deliver coherent messages to Government, Ofcom and key decision makers on priority issues
  • develop the SPF work programme, addressing in context of known agendas of international bodies, to influence spectrum management decisions, working via Government and Ofcom and use

Please get in touch if you would like to join the Steering Board.
