Event round-up: HMRC UK Corporation Tax (Cotax)

A round-up of our market engagement event with HMRC on the UK Corportation Tax service (Cotax) on 19 August.

On 19 August, we were delighted to host HMRC for a market engagement event ahead of their upcoming procurement for the maintaining and running of the UK Corporation Tax (Cotax) service. The Cotax service is considered to be part of the UK's Critical National Infrastructure and is run by HMRC.

This procurement is for a new contract to run and maintain the service - it is being facilitated by the CDIO's Technology Sourcing Programme (TSP). The TSP is a multi-year programme of work intended to deliver a step change in how HMRC delivers IT and works with its IT suppliers to procure and utilise technology. This service is currently being supported under a large outsourcing contract, and HMRC requires a new contract to be in place and transition completed by 30 June 2022.

As a first step potential suppliers were invited to this market engagement event to find out more about the requirements, more information about the UK Corporation Tax (Cotax) service, timelines, and how the procurement process will operate - which will be via CCS framework Technology Services 3, Lot 3d. The detailed objectives for the session, as set out by HMRC were as follows:

  • To provide attendees with an understanding of the upcoming procurement for COTAX
  • To give a view of the existing technical service within the scope of this procurement
  • To provide a high level view of our requirements for this procurement
  • To provide some commercial information and how the procurement will be run
  • To enable potentail suppliers to determine the suitability of their offering

The presentation was then followed by a Q&A session. The next steps for this market engagement event will be an Expression of Interest issued to all the suppliers on Lot 3d of the Technology Services 3 Framework, suppliers who would like to respond to the EOI will have one week to do so, and following this the tender documents will be uploaded on the HMRC SAP Ariba e-sourcing contract tool and all of the procurement activity will take place through there.
