This workshop will explore future spectrum demand for rail,  which also includes provision of future connectivity for passengers.

Some of the key discussions will include:

  • Latest developments on spectrum availability for operational communications across rail
  • Latest developments on spectrum to be used or will be needed for passenger communications in future
  • What does the future look like for rail communications given FRMCS developments and further developments in 6G over the long term
  • Determine if there is any intervention needed by government and/or Ofcom from a spectrum perspective to ensure the right amount of spectrum is available in a timely way
  • Potential for greater sharing of spectrum within a railway environment
