techUK roundtable with DCMS: Connectivity and transforming infrastructure
10am – 12pm22 February 2023
techUK, 10 St Bride Street, London, EC4A 4AD
techUK is convening a roundtable, in collaboration with DCMS, to discuss how government and industry can work together to ensure connectivity is considered at the beginning of major construction projects. Members participating in this discussion will help with an element of the Wireless Infrastructure Strategy and engagement with the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and the Transforming Infrastructure Programme (TIP).
Members will be encouraged to share thoughts on what could help the IPA to better shape its procurement strategies, ensuring connectivity is considered early on:
Evidence on the difficulties of retrofitting
Benefits of using advanced digital connectivity services in public spaces such as schools, on transport, in hospitals etc.
How industry and infrastructure can engage more effectively?
The aim is to input into the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA)’s Transforming infrastructure Programme (TIP). The vision of the TIP is to transform how government and industry intervene in the built environment to drive a step change in infrastructure performance.
The input will help the IPA embed connectivity guidance into its processes when delivering major infrastructure projects such as new hospitals, new and upgraded schools, regional government hubs and the Whitehall campus, road and transport infrastructure and large-scale energy infrastructure.
At the meeting we will also discuss how this input would best be delivered - through presentations, video, checklists or guidance for example.
