The government has published an open consultation on Public Procurement: Growing British industry, jobs and skills - consultation on further reforms to public procurement.

The proposals in this consultation aim to build on the changes introduced in the Procurement Act 2023 to ensure that public procurement plays its full role in delivering the Government’s industrial strategy and fostering a resilient economy that supports British businesses and creates good jobs in communities across the country.

These reforms will enhance the UK’s economic resilience and strengthen supply chains in line with the Government’s  industrial strategy. They will open up more opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), which are vital for driving the UK economy. This approach will enable public procurement to advance the national interest while respecting the UK’s international trade commitments.

In order to form a response to this consultation, techUK will be running a series of online member roundtables that will look to capture member feedback and response to the questions.

This session will cover questions on Supporting national capacity and supporting good quality, local jobs and skills.

Spaces are limited, so don’t forget to book your place.

Please note: If you are unable to make this session, we will be repeating it on Tuesday 22 July from 10:00 - 11:00. Click here to book.

We are holding a session on the questions on supporting SMEs and social enterprises, prompt payment and people-focused services on Thursday 17 July from 14:00 - 15:00. Click here to book.
