The CPS are looking to engage with industry via a hybrid roundtable to help shape and feedback on the development of the CPS Technology roadmap. We are delighted to have joining us the Deputy Director for Technology, Matthew Cain, CPS.

The CPS make major changes every 6-12 months which typically affect all staff and sometimes have implications more widely across the criminal justice system. Their digital strategy committed them to embracing innovation. They have learnt a great deal from this and now need to provide a technology platform that enables them to reduce the friction involved in making changes.

Please note, those that attend will be sent an embargoed draft copy of the roadmap for review prior to the session.

The roundtable will be hosted at techUK’s Office, St Bride Street. We will have 30 in person tickets available and 40 virtual tickets available. Please note we are limiting attendance to one per organisation. The CPS are interested in particular in hearing from SME’s. We will therefore be reserving 10 in-person tickets for SME’s.

For those joining in person, please arrive no later than 10.15am for a prompt 10.30am start.

If you do sign up to attend this roundtable, please come prepared to get involved in the discussion. The CPS are using this as an opportunity to hear from members so ask for active participation.

Final agenda to be shared alongside the embargoed draft roadmap closer to the time.

Purpose of the Roundtable

  • Understand what the CPS have achieved so far

  • Test emerging thinking to understand:

    • Does it make sense?

    • Will it help the CPS make decisions?

    • Where might it not be a ‘good fit’?

    • What might be missing?

    • Suggested changes and, areas to commit?

  • What the CPS are looking to achieve moving forward

  • Overview of the draft vision and objectives and, how to get there

  • Next steps

Where you can feedback

  • What excites you about the roadmap?

  • What feels challenging?

  • What are you hesitant about?

  • What’s missing?

  • To what extent does this give you as suppliers an insight to what the CPS want to achieve?

The Technology Strategy and Roadmap

“The technology strategy and roadmap matter to the whole of the CPS and have implications for the wider criminal justice system. Most victims and witnesses don’t want to have to think about the technology that enables criminals to be prosecuted. From time to time colleagues will wonder why it’s so difficult to ‘do the basics’.

The choices we make have an impact on how quickly and effectively we can prosecute a case, what we spend taxpayers’ money on, and how safely we can look after data. That’s why it’s important for the approach to be explained clearly and publicly.

We also need to meet our wider obligations –reducing our carbon footprint, making transparent commercial decisions, working with responsible partners, and achieving wider benefit for society”.
