Call for contributions: Digital ID Campaign Week 2025

Get involved with techUK's Digital ID 2025 Campaign Week

techUK is thrilled to announce our 2025 Digital Identity Campaign Week 2025 (13th-17th October) highlighting leading insights on how digital identity can unleash new innovation across society.

Over the past year, digital identity has dominated headlines, with UK government showing a clear commitment to driving adoption in order to make public services more secure, seamless and accessible. This renewed political will has brought both opportunities and challenges for the private sector.

Against the backdrop of ongoing debate, techUK wants to elevate the voices of industry leaders-showcasing their visions, opportunities, and the inspiring work already underway."

We invite techUK members to share case studies, expertise and best practice through blogs, vlogs, and social media, as well as attend our in-person Digital ID report launch on October 13th.

Please find the daily themes here:

📈Monday: Long-term vision for digital identity: what do you want over the next 5-10 years?

The UK private sector has a number of key use cases for their digital identity solutions, opening access across FS, retail and more. However, the regulatory change needed to unlock these use cases are fragmented across the policy landscape, making a unified vision for digital ID difficult to achieve. We want members’ views on the long-term ambition for digital ID in the UK: what “good” looks like, and how government should coordinate efforts across departments and with industry. A clear strategy could boost confidence, set measurable goals, create accountability, and form part of wider strategies such as the National Payments Vision or growth alongside the Industrial Strategy. We want to know what you think the long-term vision for Digital ID in the UK should be.

🌍Tuesday: International alignment and leadership

As the UK continues to shape its digital identity ecosystem, questions remain about how the UK’s frameworks will interact with the rest of the world- particularly examples like the EU’s eIDAS regulation.  We want to hear from members how they think the UK can better position itself as a key global partner in verification and identity, how other countries have successfully developed their own digital identity frameworks, understand where the UK currently stands, where future opportunities are for the UK lie or what challenges to pursuing greater alignment could be faced.

🪪Wednesday: Adoption: What emerging use cases in the UK, offer the biggest opportunities?

With digital identity expanding its scope across various markets, and multiple government departments attempting to better embed it into process, we want to know where you think digital ID could have the most transformative impact. This could be within a specific sector (like travel, transport, logistics, retail, or law)  or a broader process that you envision opening the door to wider adoption (such as AML, KYC, KYB, onboarding, compliance)

🏦Thursday: How is digital identity enabling the future of financial services?

Technology has transformed finance, through Open Banking, digital assets, and faster, more convenient payments-making services quicker and more accessible. But with this progress comes rising risk: UK Finance reported nearly £600m lost to fraud in just the first half of last year, with identity-related fraud the most common and projected to account for half of all bank fraud by 2025. Strong digital identity, verification, and authentication can help meet this challenge while also streamlining onboarding, KYC, and access to services—delivering both greater security and a better customer experience. We want to hear from members how digital identity, verification and authentication can meet this threat and create more secure online financial services.

💭Friday: What do you wish was better understood about Digital ID: Building a shared understanding to drive adoption.

Digital identity is often misunderstood by the public, business, and even government. Concerns about privacy, fears of a mandatory universal ID, and confusion about its purpose risk overshadowing the benefits. This day will look at what members wish government, industry, and society better understood about digital ID, while exploring how ethics and inclusivity must shape solutions that are transparent, accessible and user-centred.
