This session will explore the Government’s response to its Data: a new direction consultation and how reform to the data protection regime will help the UK become a world leader in trusted, responsible, and ethical data use and sharing.

Alongside discussing the Government’s vision for its new data protection regime in more detail, the session will also cover the following topics and issues:

  • Why is reform to the UK’s data protection regime needed, and why now?
  • What are some of the opportunities that reform to the data protection regime will give to the UK’s economy, businesses, and citizens?
  • How important is a robust data protection framework for achieving the ambitions of the UK’s National Data Strategy?
