The Data Protection and Digital Information (DPDI) Bill, under the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), was re-introduced in the House of Commons on March 2023 .
The Information Standards clause (106) in the DSIT Data Protection and Digital Information Bill, successfully passed through the Commons and is presently at the first reading stage at the house of Lords with Royal Assent currently planned for Spring 2024.
This measure ensures that those involved in the processing of health or care information are accountable for meeting basic information standards that enable the appropriate access to the right person's data, at the right time, by the right individuals, ensuring they receive the necessary care.
In this update, the NHS England Standards & Levers team will provide an overview of work presently being done on the new operational model and enablement plan and how this will affect IT providers in the future in providing products and services to the NHS England.
