Overview
The FCG are a specific branch of MOD DE&S who explore technology for the Front-Line Command (FLC) and who accelerate it into Operational use.
- The FCG is very focused on Robotic Autonomous Systems, other areas of focus are emerging. Its yearly budget, driven by capabilities the FLCs are interested in getting into operational use, is crica £100m for MOD spend, but this varies from year to year.
- FCG follows on an ‘Agile by Default’ acquisition approach, for example using the Buy And Try Scale Operationalise model. These models are being rolled out into other DES teams.
- Circa 50% of FCGs competitions are won by UK and international SMES, and FCG are keen to work with TechUK to ensure that its opportunities continue to be of interest to the UK supply chain.
- Increasingly acquisitions are linked to Digital Capabilities and FCG are keen to ensure that the TechUK members are aware of the upcoming opportunities for future acquisitions, but also to hear from SMEs about their ideas for ways of working into the future.
