The Defence and Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS) set the scene for establishing a more productive and strategic relationship between government and the defence and security industries.  In meeting the aims of DSIS, a target for the joint MOD and Industry Defence Suppliers Forum is to optimise the route that both MOD and Industry take to translate innovation into UK defence capability at pace and with corresponding commercial and economic benefits to the UK.

The briefing from Jim Pennycook provides an update on the plan to implement a joint MOD and Industry end-to-end innovation process that aims to increase the opportunities for innovators to engage in Defence with a focus on exploitation and commercialisation and opening up of new routes for SMEs.  The update will include updates on the benefit to SMEs from Regional Defence and Security Clusters, the Defence Technology Exploitation Programme and DASA’s Defence Loans and Regional Partnerships Fund.
