In the recently published Data Protection and Digital Information No. 2 Bill, the UK Government has set out an enabling framework for the introduction of Smart Data Schemes which will facilitate economy-wide, cross-sector data sharing.

However, moving from legislation to workable, real-life schemes will be a complex process which will require multi-stakeholder collaboration. As the Bill passes through Parliament, there will be questions on how Smart Data Schemes will work in practice to ensure they drive innovation while bringing consumer benefits.

In this panel discussion, techUK will be bringing together senior government officials, parliamentarians, and data policy experts to discuss the following:

  • What opportunities will Smart Data Schemes bring to the UK’s economy, businesses, and consumers?
  • Which key considerations need to underpin the development and implementation of Smart Data Schemes?
  • How should the Government prioritise which sectors it will introduce Smart Data Schemes to?
