Following the Government's consultation on a new pro-competition regime for digital markets, the UK has now the challenging task of designing and implementing a new framework to promote competition and innovation in digital markets while preserving the UK's global reputation for fair and balanced regulation.

While we await the results of this consultation, techUK is holding an event to discuss how the Government should implement the new regime. In this panel discussion, techUK and panellists from Parliament, the regulatory authority, industry and academia will explore key questions including:

  • How should the DMU define the activities in the scope for regulation?
  • How to get the right balance between predictability and flexibility of the new regime?
  • What are the overarching consequences of providing the CMA with more tools for merger control?
  • What are the risks arising from different regulatory approaches on competition policy over the world?
