Event round-up: DWP Digital Supplier Resourcing Market Engagement event

In October 2020 techUK hosted Simon McKinnon, Matthew Bradley and their team from DWP Digital as they were embarking on a market engagement exercise and defining their industry engagement strategy and commercial delivery for their major technology programmes. They set out to industry their strategy for the coming years and looked to establish a more proactive approach to market engagement across the department’s technology landscape.

The 19 February saw the Digital Supplier Resourcing team at DWP brief industry on their current thinking for sourcing third-party expertise and capabilities. DWP Digital Group currently utilise a number of routes to procure third-party specialist resource and expert services via existing contracts and frameworks, some of the contracts are approaching expiry and DWP is keen to fulfill these requirements in the future through their strategy and market capabilities.

One of the options under consideration is a DWP specific framework that would sit alongside CCS frameworks and potentially allow for the sourcing of specialist resource and expert services. They would like industry input, including SMEs, on their thinking about this option and potential lotting structure.

Attendees heard from different members of the DSR team at DWP Digital on various aspects of the Digital Supplier Resourcing (DSR) project, including an overview of DWP Digital and the project, DWP’s operating model, use cases, high-level requirements and current commercial areas of interest.

The DSR team also outlined the next steps in order to keep suppliers informed and give an indicative timeline. Alongside the slides from the presentation a supplier questionnaire was issued and DWP would like all responses to go back to them by 1 March 2021. Following this DWP will review the responses and commence further insight sessions with selected suppliers on the week commencing 8 March 2021, with email invites issued by 5 March 2021.
