Justice and emergency - Talking 5 with JES STakeholder OPCSA

In this series, techUK's Fran Richiusa, Junior Programme Manager on our Justice and Emergency Services Programme, interviews a member or stakeholder active in the Justice and Emergency Services space, exploring their background and aspirations for the sector's future through technology.

In this episode, we talked to Jo Gore, Deputy Chief Scientific Advisor for Policing, about how science and technology are shaping the future of policing.

During our conversation with Jo, we discussed:

  • The key priorities and surprises from the first year as Deputy Chief Scientific Advisor for Policing, and how thinking about the role has evolved since starting.

  • How experience as Head of Innovation, Science and Technology at the National Crime Agency has shaped the approach to the current role, and the lessons from serious and organised crime work that can be applied more broadly across policing.

  • Aspirations for the role of science and technology in policing over the next few years, in the context of policing reform, and what success would look like.
