UK SPF - Steering Board
The UK Spectrum Policy Forum (UK SPF) Steering Board is the group that sets the direction of the Forum, the UK's industry-led cross-sector sounding board on spectrum policy, which techUK runs as secretariat. The Board decides where expert input is most needed, and it commissions, funds and manages research and other work on priority spectrum issues. It also keeps the Forum's strategy and work plan up to date, taking account of what international bodies are working on. Its main job is to give Government, Ofcom and other decision-makers a clear, joined-up industry view, so that the UK's approach to managing spectrum supports innovation, investment and economic growth.
The Board's members are senior volunteers from sponsoring companies across the full range of spectrum users. These include mobile and wireless technology firms, network equipment vendors, consultancies and academic institutions. Senior representatives from Government and Ofcom also sit on the Board, so policymakers and the regulator hear industry views directly and can contribute to them. The Board is led by a Chair and Vice Chair drawn from its industry members. Membership is open to techUK members by invitation, and organisations interested in shaping UK spectrum policy can contact the UK SPF team to find out about joining.
Members include: Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS); Ofcom; Ministry of Defence (MOD); Digital TV Group (DTG); EveryoneTV; HPE; StrathSDR; BT; Nokia; Qualcomm; Real Wireless; Virgin Media O2; FarrPoint; Vodafone; DotEcon.
