Satellite Telecommunications Committee
The techUK Satellite Telecommunications Committee (STC) is run jointly by techUK and UKspace, and it brings together the UK's satellite communications community. It covers the full range of satellite telecoms, from research and development (including the European Space Agency's ARTES programme) through to services and applications. These include satellite broadband, satellite IoT, and broadcasting infrastructure and services, both in the UK and overseas. The Committee speaks for UK industry on current and planned satellite communications networks and services. It puts members' views to the UK Government, Ofcom, the UK Space Agency, Parliament and international bodies, and it helps members grow their businesses at home and abroad.
The Committee's members are companies and organisations from across the satellite and wider telecoms value chain, including satellite operators, manufacturers, service providers, technology companies, consultancies and research organisations. It meets every quarter and is led by a Chair and Vice Chairs drawn from industry members, who are elected by the membership. Because spectrum matters so much to satellite services, the Committee works closely with techUK's communications infrastructure team. Many of its members also take part in the UK Spectrum Policy Forum. Membership is open to techUK and UKspace members, and other interested organisations are welcome to get in touch about getting involved.
