Digital Skills in Education Policy Group
Our education system must equip young people with the skills and confidence to succeed in a digital world. As technologies such as AI transform society and the workplace, learners need the knowledge and skills to use technology effectively, safely and responsibly.
Our Digital Skills in Education Policy Group brings together members and policymakers to help embed digital competence across curricula and the wider education system. Our work focuses on the digital, AI and human skills young people need for the future, including data and information literacy, critical thinking, creativity and adaptability.
Following the Curriculum and Assessment Review, we are focused on supporting implementation and strengthening collaboration between industry, government and education to help prepare every young person for a digital and AI-enabled future.
Areas of focus:
- Digital skills and AI literacy - We advocate for digital skills, AI literacy and essential human skills to be embedded across curricula and throughout education.
- AI in education - We explore the use of generative AI in education and the knowledge and judgement learners need to use AI effectively and responsibly.
- Teacher digital capability - We support initiatives that help teachers develop their skills and confidence in computing and technology education.
- Industry and education collaboration - We support collaboration between the technology sector, government, education and academia to advance digital and AI literacy.
- Skills for the future - We champion an education ecosystem that develops essential digital capabilities, high-level technical expertise and the human skills needed by the UK economy, alongside lifelong learning in digital and technology skills.
