As we mark the close of the International Year of Quantum, quantum technologies are transitioning from laboratory research to real-world deployment. The UK has a strong foundation in quantum with the National Quantum Technologies Programme launched in 2014, the National Strategy Quantum Missions and continued investment in research and commercialisation of quantum technologies.

Yet many industries still view quantum as distant future technology. The reality is that quantum computing, sensing, and communications are already delivering impact across finance, healthcare, and defence, and beyond. For UK industries to remain competitive and capitalise on these technological advances, quantum readiness needs to be a priority.

techUK is hosting this webinar to bridge the gap between quantum innovation and industry application. This event is for techUK members who do not have a technical quantum background but want to know more about what is happening with quantum technologies and what it means for their sectors and organisations.

This event will explore:

  • An overview of what the different quantum technologies are, their applications, and timelines for deployment
  • The business case for quantum readiness today and not in 5-10 years' time
  • Quantum security considerations and the urgency of post-quantum cryptography
  • What quantum readiness looks like in practice (e.g., skills, infrastructure etc.)

What is techUK’s quantum readiness series?

As quantum technologies move from concept, development and towards deployment, it is critical that the UK’s leading industries and sectors are ready to realise the potential these new technologies can offer.

As such, techUK will be hosting a series of events and webinars showcasing how these technologies are starting to deliver impact across critical industries and sectors in the UK. We will spotlight real-world impact, emphasizing the imminent need for market readiness.
