The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has launched a timely Call for Evidence on the Regulation of AI in Healthcare, inviting views on how the UK should regulate AI technologies to ensure safety, accountability and innovation in health and care. This consultation feeds directly into the National Commission into the Regulation of AI in Healthcare, whose recommendations will help define the future regulatory landscape in 2026.

For techUK members working at the intersection of AI, health technology and regulatory strategy, this forum will unpack the consultation’s key regulatory themes, including:

  • The adequacy of current regulatory frameworks and where reform may be needed
  • Balancing patient safety with timely access to innovative AI products
  • Approaches to post-market surveillance, performance monitoring and evidence requirements
  • Clarifying roles, responsibilities and liability across stakeholders

The session will combine a shared analysis of the MHRA’s consultation questions with an open discussion to capture member perspectives and help shape techUK’s collective contribution ahead of the 2 February 2026 deadline. Attendees will gain clarity on what policymakers are seeking, what matters most to industry, and how your insights can influence UK AI healthcare regulation.
