Event Round-Up: Cyber in the Water Utilities Sector

On Friday 3rd May, techUK held it's first event in a new series 'Safeguarding Critical National Infrastructure in the Digital Age'.

The series will be spotlighting a number of different sectors within CNI to better understand the risks that are associated with cyber-attacks and the importance of implementing updated NIS regulations to better protect the UK for the future.

Our first event focused on the Water Utilities sector. Speakers from Accenture, Littlefish and the Future Water Association highlighted a number of key issues, including: 

  • The major security challenges in the water sector.
  • The lessons learnt from the NIS Cyber Assessment Framework.
  • The main barriers to security for water companies.
  • The steps that need to be taken to mitigate future risk.
  • Structural Issues in the water sector.
