Upcoming Police tech procurement opportunity

Action Fraud is the national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime and provides a simple and recognisable way for the public to report fraud or cybercrime, without placing additional burdens on emergency reporting channels, such as 999 or 101.
Reports to Action Fraud, as well as those made to CIFAS and UK Finance, are sent to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), based in the City of London Police, for analysis. Having a centralised intelligence function allows for fraud and cybercrime reports from across the country to be linked and better co-ordination of policing resources to investigate crimes and protect victims.
Since the service used by Action Fraud and the NFIB was last procured in 2015, technology has advanced and demand has grown considerably. It is clear the current system needs updating and improving to deal with the change in the national, and international fraud and cybercrime landscape, and provide greater integration across law enforcement.
Work has already begun to create this new and improved fraud and cybercrime reporting and analysis service that will automate and industrialise existing data-sharing with partners, to improve identification of serious and organised crime and maximise opportunities to reduce harm and prevent fraud.
The aim of the project is to:
· provide an accessible service for the public and organisations to report fraud and cyber-crime;
· improve the victim experience and their satisfaction with the service;
· improve the flow of information through the system, so criminal activity is disrupted and the public is better protected; and
· contribute to an improved understanding of the threat from serious and organised crime.
