Building on the foundations of the Consumer Electronics Strategy and Technology Group, the group has an expanded mandate reflecting the rapidly evolving policy landscape. Its core focus areas are the implementation of the UK Media Act 2024, including Ofcom's work on PSB prominence, the designation of TV selection services, and the new Video on Demand regulatory regime; the future of TV and radio broadcast, including the transition to IP-delivered television and audio; and the BBC Charter renewal, ahead of the current Charter's expiry at the end of 2027.
Who should join
This group is open to all techUK members with an interest in the future of television, broadcasting, and audio in the UK. It is particularly relevant for organisations working in connected TV manufacturing, streaming devices, TV operating system platforms, content provision, Pay TV services, and radio and audio devices. Policy, regulatory affairs, and strategy leads at member organisations are encouraged to join.
How we work
The group meets monthly for one hour. Meetings bring together member representatives to receive updates on the latest policy and regulatory developments, share intelligence, agree collective positions, and coordinate techUK's engagement with government and Ofcom on behalf of the sector.
