Future Telecoms Conference 2027
On Wednesday, 3 February 2027, we’re bringing together industry leaders and policymakers at the techUK London office to map out the next era of UK connectivity. Seven months into a reshaped tech policy landscape, this year’s flagship event puts 6G and next-generation connectivity front and center.

About this event
techUK’s Future Telecoms Conference returns to take stock of a year of change in UK telecommunications and to look ahead to the next generation of networks. Taking place seven months into a new government that has reshaped the tech policy landscape, this year’s conference puts 6G at the heart of the conversation. We will tackle the hard questions around why the UK needs to start planning for it now, and how it underpins the reindustrialisation and growth across every region of the country.
The new administration inherits, and is building on, a policy framework set by the Industrial Strategy's Digital and Technologies Sector Plan, the 10-Year Infrastructure Strategy, and the Statement of Strategic Priorities, which together set out the vision, operational ambitions and regulatory pathway to future-proof connectivity in the UK. These policy papers acknowledge that telecoms is the backbone of the wider digital ecosystem and a cornerstone for productivity and economic growth. The question now is how far the refreshed political direction accelerates that agenda and whether the UK is ready for what comes next.
With 6G deployment expected from around 2029, the window to plan is already open. This is not about moving on from 5G, but about a coherent and consistent plan that builds on today’s investment and positions the UK to compete internationally.
Telecoms is the foundation of AI, cybersecurity and other critical technologies. The potential of the AI Opportunities agenda to drive growth and reindustrialisation across the UK depends on the connectivity layer as much as on compute and data centres. With the Mobile Market Review under way and WRC-27 on the horizon, 2027 is the year in which strategy must become delivery, and delivery must translate in economic prosperity.
Are we planning far enough ahead to match the scale of the opportunity? How can government and industry work together to deliver a truly connected-by-design economy by 2030? And how will the 6G networks and value chain that will follow look like?
What you will get out of the event
Discover why the UK must start planning for 6G now, and how a coherent pathway can drive reindustrialisation across the regions.
Identify practical solutions to bring high-quality fixed and mobile connectivity to every corner of the UK, from planning constraints and cost-sharing models to spectrum availability.
Assess what the Mobile Market Review and future market conditions mean for investment, competition, and outcomes for consumers and businesses.
Examine the connectivity demand from AI adoption, physical AI and robotics, and essential industries such as healthcare, transport, energy and manufacturing.
Benchmark the UK against international approaches to telecoms and learn how it can stay competitive as other nations set out their ambitions.
Explore how secure networks underpin national resilience, and the case for treating future networks as critical national infrastructure.
