Consumer Rights Working Group

Member Only

The Consumer Rights Group directs techUK’s policy on e-commerce, selling to consumers and online marketplaces. The Group allows members to stay informed of the latest consultations and legislative changes coming from government that affect online marketplaces selling to consumers, to allow input into techUK’s responses to proposed changes in consumer regulation, online marketplace regulation and product regulation.

The group works closely with partners within the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST), the Office of Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) and other agencies and Departments responsible for regulating how tech businesses sell to consumers. Our work has included the implementation of Part IV of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and the response to the proposed updates to OPSS’ Product Safety Framework.
