About the Event 

The UK Spectrum Policy Forum (SPF) warmly invites you to its annual conference on the future of spectrum policy, taking place on 16 May 2025. This year, the event is held in collaboration with the IEEE International Symposium on Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks (DySPAN 25), the premier global conference on radio spectrum technology and policy innovation.     UK SPF Plenary: Steering Board and upcoming research

    The UK Spectrum Policy Forum's is the cross-industry ‘sounding board’ to Government and Ofcom on future policy and approaches on spectrum. Our mission is to promote and maximise the benefits of radio spectrum for the UK. The UK SPF February Plenary Meeting is an essential event for anyone interested in the future of spectrum management in the UK. This year's meeting holds particular significance as it serves as a platform to discuss and shape upcoming study projects and UK SPF activities for 2025.

    Intro & keynote speakers

    The UK Spectrum Policy Forum flagship conference serves as a crucial platform for both national and international discussions regarding spectrum policy, with a focus on UK and European perspectives. This year's event will be in collaboration with DySPAN in London. The UK SPF summit will cover key themes including maximizing spectrum access to meet demand, maintaining a fit-for-purpose regulatory framework, shaping international influence on UK spectrum policy, and addressing spectrum needs for Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), public safety, and Net Zero goals. It will also explore the new public sector spectrum access framework, delve into 6G standards and the evolving roadmap, and feature an exclusive presentation of the UK SPF report on the future of TV distribution.

    Presentation of UK SPF report: Future of the UHF band

    The UK SPF will present its new independent report on the use of the UHF band after 2034. After the presentation, the panel session will discuss with key stakeholders the use cases and issues that need to be addressed based on the findings of the study.

  • 13:00–14:30

    6G: spectrum and new 3GPP standards roadmap

    This session will explore the 6G standards and roadmap to deploying this technology in the UK.

  • 15:30–16:30

    Considerations for the Future of the UHF Band

    This session will react to the presentation of the UK SPF report to explore how the UHF band can continue to serve a broad array of users. Experts will examine changes in broadcasting and PMSE from emerging technologies and new services to address the potential social and industrial challenges and how Ofcom’s proposed approaches might inform future UHF band allocation and use.

  • 10:30–11:30

    Optimizing Spectrum for CNI, Public Safety, and Net Zero

    This panel session will dive into the impact of spectrum policy across siginificant sectors in the economy. It will also address the relevant spectrum bands and how to coordinate varying interests for their use.
