Sport is being transformed beyond recognition, and the UK is right at the heart of it. From AI-powered marginal gains in elite performance, to real-time fan engagement, agentic analytics and the democratisation of participation, technology is rewriting every rule in the playbook. With the 2026 World Cup turning global attention to sport like never before, the moment to define, back and scale the UK's sports tech sector has never been more urgent. Yet while the UK punches above its weight in research, startups and elite performance, it still faces real challenges, such as a shortage of growth capital to scale promising companies.

Join us at techUK during London Tech Week for a panel event exploring how the UK turns global strength into real scale.

Hosted by techUK and Henham Strategy, in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade, the panel will bring together leading figures to explore how the UK can better define, support and grow its sports technology sector and what it will take to win on the world stage.

We'll explore:

  •  How is technology transforming sport, and where is it making the biggest difference?
  • What does the UK excel at, and what gives it a genuine competitive edge?
  • What policy levers could unlock greater growth, and how can Government help most meaningfully?

Confirmed Speakers

  • Rupert Daniels – Director, Services and Skills at the Department for Business and Trade; actively shaping policy for UK sports tech growth
  • Charlie Greenwood – Founder of Sports Loft; connects sports technology companies with rights holders, investors, and decision makers for scaling
  • James Young – Director of Sports Partnerships at Genius Sports; leading one of the world's largest sports technology companies

Additional speakers will be confirmed in due course.

Panellists will include a representative from the Department for Business and Trade, who are actively shaping the policy environment for UK sports tech growth and Charlie Greenwood, Founder of Sports Loft, the network that connects sports technology companies with the rights holders, investors and decision makers who can help them scale. We’ll confirm other speakers in due course.

There will be an opportunity to network afterwards.
