Conference

AI adoption offers huge potential to drive economic growth and productivity across all sectors and regions of the UK, improving the lives of people and communities in every postcode.

techUK’s AI Adoption 2027 Conference arrives six months on from the UK Government's AI Adoption Summit, the publication of the AI Champions Adoption Plan, and the appointment of a new Prime Minister. It asks: what is the real state of play on AI adoption, and do we have what's needed to turn the UK's AI adoption plans and ambitions into outcomes with real impact?

At the heart of the day, we will launch techUK's first AI Adoption Index - a new evidence base, built with Public First, mapping where the UK is actually adopting AI, how firms are using it, what's holding them back, and where the next wave of adoption could come from. By focusing on the eight Industrial Strategy sectors and every region of the UK, the Index will provide hard evidence on where the UK truly stands against its AI adoption ambitions.

The conference will move beyond ambition to explore the operational reality of AI adoption in 2027. Where are organisations really on the journey? Are businesses still stuck at pilot stage? Is the step change still from pilot to production - or are new challenges emerging as firms scale? And for those that have scaled, are they seeing real value and return?

We will dig into the real benefits and impact organisations are seeing, and explore what's holding others back - not simply cataloguing the barriers, but asking whether we understand them well enough to design solutions that actually work. We will also zero in on where the UK's future adoption opportunities lie, and what more is needed to secure them.

Sessions will include a six-months-on update from the AI Champions, a CEO panel from the AI Adoption Coalition on the reality of AI in action across the Industrial Strategy sectors, and a dedicated look at what it takes to move organisations from pilot projects to mass, systemic deployment - drawing on lessons from both public and private sector experience. The day will close with a clear look ahead: what needs to happen in 2027 to ensure the UK captures the full economic and social potential of responsible AI adoption.
