Unconference: Women in tech

About this event

techUK and Women in Tech Policy Network invite you to join us to engage in meaningful discussions to understand women's perspectives on key tech policy topics and issues.

By providing a platform for topic proposals and group discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange insights, address challenges, and foster collaboration to drive real change.

The unconference format (see more on this below) will create an opportunity to build connections with those working in the field and engage in knowledge-sharing and collaborative problem-solving.

This event is tailored for women working in the tech sector and with an interest in tech policy. We welcome techUK members, stakeholders, and government representatives to join us for this event.

Unconference

Finding popularity in the Tech sector in the mid-nineties, Unconference formats represented a move away from formal conferences with attendees given the freedom to create the event they wanted. This will be a participant-driven event.

Unlike traditional conferences, there's no predetermined agenda – We will be asking participants to suggest topics on the day. With some topics of interest including ‘how to drive more investment into the female entrepreneurs and women in tech’, 'creating more networks for women to build confidence’ and unpacking some of the considerations around data and transparency.

techUK continue to champion and showcase women tech talent, entrepreneurs and founders, and we call for the UK Government to do the same. You can catch up on recent work to support diversity within the tech sector via our TechTogether campaign.

Women in Tech Policy Network

At the crossroads of two traditionally male-dominated fields — technology and public affairs — the Women in Tech Policy Network (WiTP) amplifies the voices of expert women shaping the future of tech policy. Founded in 2024 by Casey Calista and Dr Hannah Shimko as an informal networking club, WiTP rapidly grew into a thriving community of 500+ UK-based women, fostering connections, collaboration, and leadership in the sector.
