Tech and Net Zero Conference 2026

About this event

In this year's Tech and Net Zero Conference we’ll be building on the momentum and insights from previous years to tackle the ever-evolving challenges of climate change and the role of technology to deliver solutions at scale.

This year's conference comes at a pivotal moment. With 2030 targets fast approaching and the global net zero transition accelerating, the technology sector's role has never been more critical. From the data centres powering our digital lives to the recycling of millions of devices to the AI systems optimising our energy grids, tech is both part of the challenge and central to the solution.

Join us as we explore how innovation, collaboration, and bold action can deliver solutions to climate change.

Some themes we’ll be looking to address include:

  • Industrial decarbonisation

  • Climate data and measurement

  • Circular economy and e-waste

  • Policy and regulation

  • Digital infrastructure and digitalisation

    Registration and Networking

  • 10:00–10:05

    Welcome Remarks

  • 10:05–10:25

    Opening Keynote

  • 10:25–11:15

What does climate policy look like under Andy Burnham?

This opening panel will discuss what this new flavour of Labour will mean for climate policy. The experts will look at how the government will approach the net-zero transition at a time of resurging climate-scepticism, growing extreme weather, a ‘reprioritisation’ towards retail cost of living policies, and a need to keep costs down.

  • 11:15–11:45

    Break

  • 11:45–12:20

    PANEL: Climate adaptation in practice

Following a summer of wildfires and heatwaves and a likely winter of floods and storms, different parts of the tech sector will share how they have prepared for extreme weather, and how they are modelling their exposure to the risks of an already changed climate.

  • 12:20–12:40

FIRESIDE CHAT: SBTi version 2: What does it mean for tech?

This discussion with the Science Based Targets initiative will cover the new version of the standard, how it shifts from targets to taking action and how voluntary initiatives like this can get the confidence of the market.

  • 12:40–13:15

    FIRESIDE CHAT: Investing in climate-tech

Climate-tech is a UK success story and has a huge role to play in reindustrialisation, exports and contributing to growth across the UK. However investment is nowhere near what is needed so we will look at the state of climate-tech and how climate-tech can be scaled.

  • 13:15–14:05

    Lunch break

  • 14:05–14:25

    KEYNOTE

    Afternoon Keynote with Q&A

  • 14:25–14:50

FIRESIDE CHAT: Innovating for grid decarbonisation

The British energy grid needs to become more flexible, decentralised and agile as we get towards 100% clean power. In this discussion with NESO we will explore where the best opportunities are for tech, how AI can make a difference and ensuring the grid is resilient.

  • 14:50–15:25

    BREAKOUT SESSION: Transition Planning

Following the publication of our ‘Tech Towards Net Zero’ transition plan guide and work from government, this how-to session will take members through setting a credible, trusted and future-ready net zero transition plan.

  • 14:50–15:25

BREAKOUT SESSION: Measuring the carbon intensity of AI

AI is upending emissions forecasts and climate targets for tech firms, so we’re excited to be working with the World Resources Institute and Oxford University to develop a metric for how to understand and report AI related emissions.

  • 15:25–15:45

    Coffee break

  • 15:45–16:35

    BREAKOUT SESSION

    Breakout Sessions

  • 16:35 : 16:40
