Governing the Invisible: Securing Machine Identities and Autonomous AI Agents in Modern Defence
Palo Alto’s sponsored roundtable on 23 November brings together a narrow audience of UK Defence leaders to discuss securing machine identities and autonomous AI agents. It will focus on keeping human control and governance over non-human decision-makers as they become the fastest-growing attack surface.

About this event
As UK Defence integrates automated systems and autonomous AI agents into logistics, threat analysis, and signal processing workflows, the operational landscape is shifting. Machine workloads, microservices, and system tokens now outnumber human operators by more than 100-to-1, making non-human identities the fastest-growing lateral attack surface. To be effective, these autonomous agents require elevated data access. For leaders across UK Defence (to be discussed and narrow audience), this session will focus on establishing deterministic human control and continuous governance over machine and non-human decision-makers.
Key Discussion Questions for the Roundtable:
What policies, safeguards, and real-time "kill-switches" are required to maintain deterministic human control over non-human autonomous decision-makers?
With machine credentials representing a major risk for lateral movement, how can we enforce automated rotation and unified policy for hard-coded tokens across mission software pipelines and tactical cloud?
Agenda:
09:30 – 10:30 - Registration and Networking
