On 27 April 10:00-11:30, techUK’s Tech and Innovation programme will be partnering with the Health and Social Care Programme to explore the role of Intelligent Automation in Healthcare, as part of the Intelligent Automation campaign week

Intelligent Automation (IA), the amalgamation of evolving, high-potential technologies such as Machine Learning (ML), Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and end-to-end Business Process Optimization (BPO) platforms, is a crucial technology for the UK’s health sector. Prior to COVID-19, IA was highlighted as a tool to enhance productivity, but the pandemic has underlined the crucial role of technology to adapt to the unprecedented and to offer crucial time savings to staff on the frontline of the pandemic. 

As pioneers of IA, the technology sector can showcase how IA enables impactful, positive change to the UK’s health service at a time when lots of companies are offering Automation tools that the heath sector can benefit from

This webinar will seek to bring together the latest developments in adoption of IA technologies across the UK’s health sector during the last year of uncertainty and change, underlying its crucial role as a tool to be utilised by healthcare workers, and explore emerging best practices across the country.

As IA technologies will be key for the health sector in the months and years to come, we will also explore the key challenges facing UK health sector for the adoption of Intelligent Automation including COVID-19 and workforce changes, Legacy IT and cultural change.

Laura is techUK’s Head of Programme for Technology and Innovation.

She supports the application and expansion of emerging technologies, including Quantum Computing, High-Performance Computing, AR/VR/XR and Edge technologies, across the UK. As part of this, she works alongside techUK members and UK Government to champion long-term and sustainable innovation policy that will ensure the UK is a pioneer in science and technology

Before joining techUK, Laura worked internationally as a conference researcher and producer covering enterprise adoption of emerging technologies. This included being part of the strategic team at London Tech Week.

Laura has a degree in History (BA Hons) from Durham University, focussing on regional social history. Outside of work she loves reading, travelling and supporting rugby team St. Helens, where she is from.

Leontina joined techUK in March 2020, where she is now heading up the organisation’s Health and Social Care programme. At the moment, she is also completing an MSc in Health Policy at Imperial College London.

A former journalist, Leontina previously worked for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) as an associate editor for its International and Media divisions. There, she covered the EMEA region for Healthcare IT News, MobiHealthNews and HIMSS TV, with a focus on policy and innovation, and contributed to the Women in Health IT newsletter and HIMSS Insights eBook.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, dancing, travelling and visiting her family in Romania, where she hails from.
