Digital Identity in the UK – Learning from Global Success

As the UK continues to shape its digital identity ecosystem, questions remain about how the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework will align with international schemes—particularly the EU’s eIDAS regulation.

For UK Digital ID providers to scale effectively, alignment with global frameworks is crucial. 

Other countries already have well-established digital identity markets. Estonia, for example, has integrated its “e-ID” system into 99% of public services since 2002—delivering dramatic improvements in efficiency, cost-savings, and trust in government. The Estonian model is estimated to save 2% of the nation’s GDP and over 1,400 years of working time annually.
