techUK responds to government automated vehicles consultation

techUK's Self Driving Vehicles Working Group has submitted detailed views and proposals for the upcoming automated vehicles rules.

Responding to a very large and wide-ranging set of questions from the government’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (AVs), our response calls for the automated vehicle regulatory framework to be aligned with international UNECE standards to avoid creating UK‑specific requirements that would fragment the market and deter deployment. Throughout, we emphasise proportionate, predictable, and non‑duplicative regulation, supporting evidence‑led safety cases and a collaborative safety culture. We believe that a harmonised, innovation‑friendly regulatory environment will enable safe deployment, support investment, boost public confidence, and the grow of the UK AV sector.
