Ahead of this year’s Defence Information conference & exhibition on 10 & 11 April, techUK would like to make you aware of a new initiative which forms part of the event – the Innovation Zone. This provides an opportunity for start-ups and Small-to-Medium enterprises (SMEs) to showcase their technologies to senior decision makers in MOD & industry.

Challenges are chosen by the MOD’s Information Systems and Services (ISS) Innovation team, and represent an identified opportunity for defence innovation. The Challenge for 2019 is Explainable Machine Learning in the context of Defence.

Interested companies are asked to submit their proposed solution in up to 300 words before the 18 March. A shortlist of six companies will then be offered the opportunity to present their solutions at the Defence Information event.  During DI’19, a board of senior representatives from MOD and Industry will present the Innovation Award for most promising solution.

Submissions should be sent to: and more information on DI’19 can be found in the attached flyer at the bottom of this page.
