CMA study into online markets and digital advertising

Responding to the launch of the CMA’s inquiry into online platforms and digital advertising market study, techUK Deputy CEO Antony Walker said:

“Digital advertising is the backbone of the modern internet, underpinning business models that enable consumers to access and use products and services without upfront cost.

It has helped support the development of whole new markets and businesses and supported generations of SMEs to reach far beyond their traditional markets.

Open markets, robust competition and consumer control over data are essential to ensuring a healthy marketplace that retains the many benefits that digital advertising brings and we look forward to engaging with the CMA’s study over the coming weeks to help retain this balance.”
