Steps to prevent aggressive rent collection and closure

The Government has announced temporary new measures to safeguard high street businesses against aggressive debt recovery actions during the coronavirus pandemic.

Until 30 June the Government will temporarily ban the use of statutory demands and winding up orders where a company cannot pay their bills due to coronavirus. Landlords will also be prevented from using commercial rent arrears recovery unless 90 days or more of unpaid rent is owed.

Testing for essential workers

The Government has announced that all essential workers in England and members of their households who are showing symptoms of coronavirus will now be able to get tested.

The expansion in testing will be accompanied by a media campaign and will include home testing, mobile testing sites and satellite testing kits.

HMRC webinars

HMRC has announced further webinars providing step-by-step guides on how to make a claim through the Coronavirus Retention Scheme, Self-Employment Income Support Scheme and enhanced Statutory Sick Pay.
