Health & Social Care March Newsletter: What does the X stand for?

The health tech sector’s busy start to 2019 has continued at pace. After the publication of the NHS Long-Term Plan in January, February saw the announcement of NHSX, a new body to take forward the digitisation of the NHS. techUK welcomed the announcement and we look forward to working with the new CEO to help accelerate and align the multitude of technology programmes in the Service.

At techUK, our Health and Social Care Programme held five events in the short month of February:

We also matched 40 techUK mentors to the first cohort of the NHS Digital Academy, helping to foster digital skills in the NHS. More on that soon.

Looking into March - our Health and Social Care Council is meeting in Leeds on 12 March - techUK members are welcome to come and meet their Council and the public sector stakeholders that will be joining us. Later in March we’ll be holding events on SNOMED CT and Social Care as part of our partnership with NHS Digital.

We are also in the process of pulling together a focused group of suppliers to drive forwards the technology agenda for ‘Digital Citizens’. This event is for companies with public-facing digital tools such as apps, wearables and other digital health and care tools. Get in touch if you would like to be involved.

Finally, bookings for techUK’s Annual Dinner are now open. Taking place on 10 July, it promises to be an eventful evening. Last year’s dinner went off with a bang despite (or because of) clashes with an England World Cup tie and a Government reshuffle. We can guarantee that one of those things won’t happen this time around.

Until next time,
