Internet of Things March Newsletter

Our Future of IoT event series returns with a look at Manuf-Action, examining how IoT is enabling a step change in manufacturing in the UK. Along with our partners Experis and High Tech Bristol and Bath, we will once again be at the Watershed venue in Bristol, where attendees will have the chance to hear from and network with leaders in the field of IoT as well as manufacturers, particularly those from the defence and aerospace industry. LPWAN in the UK is growing!

BT’s Internet of Things (IoT) ambitions have been boosted by a new pilot programme with Northumbrian Water. The utility company wants to use the IoT to monitor its water network so it can identify efficiencies and potential issues to better serve customers. The pilot will see 150 sensors deployed in Sunderland, tracking data such as water, flow, pressure and quality. This will help spot leakages and even allow for predictive maintenance – lowering costs and speeding up operations. We want to feature more case studies in our report on Low Power Area Network, to be included in our Connectivity Report. The report will focus on the wider IoT Connectivity conversation, and what role does LPWAN play as a missing piece of the puzzle in the UK market.

techUK would like to invite you to take part in a Water Innovation Show and Tell Workshop on 16 April, which will gather stakeholders to discuss and share knowledge on innovation in the water sector. To register click here. We want to offer the technology industry, the regulator, energy companies. and innovators. a playing field to discuss potential collaborations within the water sector on innovation challenges. We will hear from the source, the water companies, understand how they are innovating, and how the sector is developing and changing. Our speakers include Anglian Water, Affinity Water, and the Energy Innovation Centre.
