This week, techUK - in partnership with Coadec - led a delegation of growth UK tech and digital companies to Brussels to discuss the General Data Protection Regulation and what the UK tech sector needs from a Digital Single Market.
The delegation met with ten European Parliamentarians, influential Commission officials and wider stakeholders. The delegation was made up of exciting UK growth tech companies including Postcode Anywhere, Skyscape, Surevine, Hassle, We Are Pop Up, Squirrel and VetCloud.
The Commission has rightly put the Digital Single Market at the center of its plans to drive jobs and prosperity across Europe. techUK share the belief that by creating an addressable market of hundreds of millions of consumers and a regulatory environment that supports business growth, we can unleash the true potential of Europe's technology sector. To coincide with this delegation techUK has published eight principles to help guide the development of the Digital Single Market.
We have also jointly produce two case studies on how the GDPR would affect high growth UK start-ups and scale-ups, one on an 'Internet Of Things' (IoT) company and another on an fin-tech company. Both of these case studies can be downloaded below.
