techUK publishes the results of it's recent 2019 member survey.

In April 2019, techUK surveyed its SME members on a range issues including:

  • the UK tech sectors potential for growth over the next two years
  • their business’s potential for growth over the same period
  • which drivers were key to the future success of their business
  • which techUK member benefits were most important and their satisfaction with them

There was reason for optimism, as over 90% of responses stated they were either fairly or very positive about the UK tech sectors potential for growth, whilst conversely only 1% were not at all positive. Furthermore, 50% of responses anticipated that their own businesses would grow significantly in the same timeframe, with a further 40% expecting to see some growth. Again, only 1% expected contraction.

‘Securing business with new customers and/or markets’ was ranked the most important by some distance when asked the question, ‘Which of the following are key to the future success of your business?’. ‘Attracting & retaining talent’ and ‘increasing profile & building networks’ followed after with similar scores, whilst ‘access to finance’ and ‘reducing cost of regulatory compliance’ scored comparatively low.

Over 70% of members stated that raising profile and receiving timely business insight and intelligence as most important when asked the question, ‘Which of the following are key to the future success of your business’. The use of techUK’s London facilities, such as access to four half day meeting room requests per year, and access to the networking area received 33% of responses, whilst raising profile with policymakers secured 44%.

The responses we gathered gave strong evidence to suggest that there is a great opportunity to for techUK to increase its SME member affinity. The insight the survey provided has formed the foundation for a new wave of activity that will focus on; ensuring engagement and value for our SME members.
