techUK comment's on Article 50 extension

Commenting on this evening’s vote in the House of Common’s Antony Walker, Deputy CEO of techUK said:

“We remain days away from a chaotic exit from the EU. A situation that techUK members have made clear would be damaging to their businesses and the UK economy. A No Deal Brexit would cause serious damage to the UK’s place as a leading digital economy and must be avoided. The vote today provides some additional clarity on what would happen if Parliament were to back the deal on the table. It is right and sensible that the Government is prepared to enable a short extension in order to allow time for the necessary processes to facilitate such a deal.

“If there is a serious prospect of getting a deal, then techUK supports that effort, but should Parliament again reject the Prime Minister’s deal then Parliament must move with haste to find out what kind of deal or solution it would support.”
