techUK's Deputy CEO, Antony Walker, responds to Leader of the Opposition's speech where he confirmed Labour were committed to staying in a Customs Union.

Commenting on Jeremy Corbyn’s speech on Britain after Brexit, where he committed Labour to staying in a customs union with the EU, Antony Walker, Deputy CEO at techUK, said:

“This is a significant shift from the Labour Leader and one that gives helpful clarity to the Labour Party’s position on the UK’s future trading relationship with Europe. techUK agrees that it would be in the interests of the wider economy if a new customs union could be created with the EU post-Brexit. This would ensure that modern businesses with complex supply chains do not face costly and highly disruptive delays at the border. For tech businesses supporting e-commerce or dependent on just-in-time logistics, seamless access to and from the EU for goods is an imperative.”
