Addressing the theme 'Delivering the Future', the 2018 Police ICT Summit took place in Hinckley, Leicestershire over the 17 and 18 January. The Police ICT Company teamed up with the National Police Technology Council to bring together hundreds of suppliers and police officers to explore progress in and future directions of delivering tech reform across policing.
The agenda was packed, and contained talks from almost every conceivable senior figure involved in police tech. From the Minister for Policing through to the programme teams delivering reform, the audience heard interesting views and updates about the current landscape, and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
The Home Office and police speakers were pleasingly open to talking about shared problems, and shared solutions. The critical importance of tackling challenges together has clearly been embraced by all involved, and change management is also now being given due weight.
Beyond the agenda items, the Summit also provided a unique opportunity for police and tech suppliers to come together to discuss issues of mutual interest, forge useful networks, and explore best practice.
