Last month, London opened its doors to the world of tech for what is fast becoming one of the major events on the global tech calendar.
London Tech Week (LTW) saw over 40,000 attendees from 70+ countries attend over 300 events. techUK was thrilled to be involved in a whole host of events where members of our team were chairing, speaking and attending.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan kicked off London Tech Week with the anouncement of a £1.6 million ‘Better Futures’ incubator to support London’s clean tech business to help position London as the world leader in smart cities. The Mayor also announced his intention to hire a Chief Digital Officer.
Throughout the week there was wide acknowledgment that tech innovation continues to drive the UK economy and the overwhelming feeling from LTW is that London, and indeed the UK, is very much open.
Our Head of International Trade, Simon Spier, spoke at a number of events and commented:
"There exists a great buzz and excitement about London’s place on the international tech scene. Irrespective of the changing political landscape there is an appreciation that London’s tech offering is world class and is only getting stronger."
London Tech Week took place between 12 – 16 June and saw companies from around the world flock to London to meet with cutting edge technology companies.
